Monitoring and management of dust emissions.
Monitoring and control of dust emissions is becoming an increasingly important part of effective quarry and mine management.
In the past deposition gauges or dust pots were often used as method of measuring dust emissions. These gauges are now recognised as being ineffectual for dust monitoring and regulators are increasingly requiring quarry and mine operators to monitor emissions using real-time monitors. Until recently, such monitors were expensive to install and operate. There are now a range of cost-effective instruments available that can continuously monitor real-time dust concentrations.
AirQuality Ltd offers a range of solutions to enable you to monitor and manage dust in a cost-effective manner.
Any air quality monitoring needs to be sufficient to withstand regulatory scrutiny while ensuring that costs to the client are minimised.
If regulatory compliance and/or legal certainty is a key requirement, then we normally recommend the use of a Beta Attenuation Monitor. These instruments can meet the requirements of relevant national and international standards but require a mains power connection with temperature controlled enclosures.
We work with clients to install, service, calibrate and operate such monitors, alternatively we can also rent out this instrumentation which may be necessary to collect information in support of a resource consent application.
Many regulatory agencies are increasingly requiring quarry and mining operators to monitor dust emissions in real-time often with remote access to real-time data.
Often the objective is to use the monitoring results to trigger dust control measures. We offer an optical method which is ideal for this purpose. In addition to measuring dust, PM10 or PM2.5 concentrations, the instrument uses cellular communication to send data to a secure online database with remote web access to graphical data. The low power requirements also mean that the instrument can be remotely powered using solar panels and easily re-located. The instrument can also be configured to send text and/or email alarms when high dust levels are detected.
Pricing is dependent upon:
- The length of time you wish to monitor for
- The type of equipment you wish to use
- Whether you wish to purchase or rent the monitoring instrumentation
- The level of data validation and reporting
- Whether an instrument enclosure is required
- Whether mains or solar powered options are required
- Whether wind speed and direction also need to be measured
Our clients tell us that we offer very competitive quotes for both the supply and operation of these instruments.
